JIA-at-NRAS medical advisor wins prestigious national patients’ choice award

13 May 2015

The award allows members of the public to nominate a nurse who has made a real difference to them or a member of their family. Out of 100 nominees, Sarah was shortlisted for the award along with 4 others.

She was nominated by Bournemouth mum Gabrielle Archer, whose daughter Bella was diagnosed with JIA at the age of one. You can read Bella’s Story here.

Sarah, who has been nursing for 13 years and has specialised in rheumatology for almost five, said: “I was gobsmacked to be nominated in the first place as there are so many great nurses out there but, at the same time, I felt extremely honoured.

Our CEO Ailsa Bosworth said,

‘We are delighted that Sarah’s valuable work has been recognised in this way and add our congratulations to her.

Family support is crucial when a child is diagnosed with JIA and the role of the nurse specialist is key part of this as a sick child or young person impacts the whole family unit.’
