Cheltenham Family Fun Day 2018

26 April 2018

Our Cheltenham Family Fun Day took place on Saturday 21st April.

We were supported by health care professionals from Bristol and Cheltenham paediatric rheumatology units who gave great presentations on the condition, with hints and tips on giving medication and exercise. Anne gave a brief talk on how to seek further help if school isn’t being as supportive as it could be and in between face-painting she also spoke about our #WearPurpleforJIA campaign.

We had over 25 families and their children who came along and all very much enjoyed meeting others and sharing their experiences. All the children and young people engaged in the games room, full of giant games such as; Jenga, snakes and ladders and operation! There was a photo-booth which created lots of excitement and laughter and of course the firm favourite, with a queue which never seemed to go down, the face-painting; and it was lovely to see some of the children, all very talented indeed having a go at being creative with their peers!

Events like this are invaluable for families with children who have this long-term condition. A number of parents commented on the day that they couldn’t tell which children had JIA and which ones didn’t! We have had some great feedback and will definitely be taking this on board for the next event!
